March 7, 2009 Houston, all in one day

Catch the WAVE

Instead of the WOW Parade this time around the Washington folks bring up the WAVE, an eco-fair. One of them unique days that bring pleasant surprises...

Early start waiting for the set up crew to arrive. A normal park user taking a walk...
Some folks like to do some pet training early in the AM.
Volunteers hard at work, Jimmy with his dedicated will to survive helping others.
If it was not for Maria Maryann would stay at home working. So nice to see you catching the Wave.
Cyclists, they are all over the place. We tried to buy their bikes from under them but no chance.
Father and daughter team. They were having a blast. What is life but a family day at the park.
Mater of ceremonies looking at Pat "the grand marshal" giving a talk on, hum... I don't remember.
Surprise surprise. Kim! where have you been all these years? Still think you should be the designated Studee planner...
Children, the future of our world. Hopefully we can preserved and protect their future.
Lovely kids...
Should have remembered the Rice conference. Memory is not my best skill.
MECA at its bests. So much talent that offer our new generations.
Dancing on the dance floor or any other place.
It was the virus from the charros that made people so happy contagious.
Are we having fun yet?
Something about adopting children. I hear people were not talkative with her but took lovely pics.
Babies...
The most superb and happy duet of friends.
And two generations of Houstonians looking after family traditions, Olivewood Cemetery.
Somebody left the gate open and bugs came out for a walk.

Lorenzo de Zavala Lodge 1397

Had to take a quick trip to the lodge for some pics of Brother's Jesse's group, Freemasons Riding Club.

I was told they are harmless... pleasure to meet you Brother "Ruger"
There is a smile behind that mustasche
A Mickey Mouse bike? Lovely, check it out yourself...
This is what is what life has to offer after sailing the seven seas... "Captain Randy"
Brother Jesse's son prior to being raised a mason and early preparation to join the armed forces of our great country...
Brothers of LDZ enjoying the moment.
Brother sailor, motorcyclist, and camera man (fixing it)...
Life has its ways to offer us long time friendships and knowledge...
Brother David was there when I knocked the LDZ door for the first time back in 2003. Oh, no need to knock the door, he was hanging out with Brother Bill and WM John Barrientes.

Houston Heights, 19th Street

At the end of the day we got to revisit 19th Street and First Saturday. The surprise under the sign..

Mother and daughter who happen to attend church at Independence Heights.
Happy people. The world should be full of happy people...
Art car in progress or just a car in progress?
If it was not for the instruments these folks could be odd fellows.
Smile for the show. I will tell Mitch you got a lovely baby...
Alan Gerson at work. Love it and love the colors.

Here we go, the Gerson's...
and not sure what this cyclist had in mind but I missed the chance to take some authentic photos...
Now this is a surprise about to happen. Beans Barton - Now Beans how was I to know that you were there as the artists of the paintings beautifying 19th Street? Great to find out that you painted Venus' cat car. Superb work.
What do I say... you still have that look of a teen looking to get in trouble.
and had to put a pic of Venus art work on wheels. Beans might not be there but surely his work brings lots of smiles to people.
I have not seen these cat fellows but hear them from time to time in the middle of the night.
lady cats?...
Surprise surprise. How fantastic to learn that Beans is the creator of this corner in the Heights, my favorite...
... of course, the big surprise on my return is to meet Beans the music man. Which brings the lyrics of an old song to mind..."unforgettable that is what you are..." Thank you Beans, you and your talents helped made my day.
But before we call the day off had to stop by H Gallery and met Billy J. Hunter the artist. Very profound and purposeful work he does and got to thank him for taking the time to explain to me about his talent and message.
We normally don't know when we are called from work to rest. Billy's work will outlast us.
